Eastern San Bernardino County movers and shakers, along with the usually delusional Inland Empire print media, steadfastly refuse to admit that San Bernardino International Airport is an unmitigated $300 million black hole.

For decades, government failure after government failure has fallen on the Inland Empire.
Local officials for more than twenty-five years couldn’t see San Bernardino’s steady decline in progress. The city’s coffers were plundered to the point where redevelopment funds had to be essentially stolen to support the local governments general fund. When those funds were taken away by Governor Jerry Brown, the city filed for chapter 9 bankruptcy.

Michael Burrows, who has been acting executive director of the two agencies that oversee the development of San Bernardino International Airport, has been officially appointed to the job.

The bad news just keeps piling up for bankrupt San Bernardino, and the surrounding area, these days. A city, and area, that has been the beneficiary of more than $ 1.026 Billion in government projects over the past several years.
That’s right. I did say billion!

SAN BERNARDINO — This time two years ago, the Grand Jury raised “serious questions” about management practices, internal controls and other issues at San Bernardino International Airport, and the airport passed a budget with a $982,400 deficit.

SAN BERNARDINO - Former San Bernardino International Airport developer Scot Spencer pleaded not guilty Friday to criminal conspiracy and other charges during his arraignment via closed-circuit television in San Bernardino Superior Court.
