The union representing San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies has launched a website targeting Second District Supervisor Janice Rutherford.
The 3,800-member San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Employees’ Benefit Association (SEBA) launched the nomorerutherford.com website last week.
The union is going after Rutherford for endangering public safety by supporting steep budget cuts to county law enforcement, which have affected levels of service and the ability to recruit quality trainees.
While slamming Rutherford, the union is also, at the same time, touting her opponent, Assemblyman Marc Steinorth.
It’s going to be an interesting contest given Steinorth’s large money cache compared to Rutherford. Add this reality to Steinorth’s experience in marketing, and Rutherford is done.
She has no one to blame but herself. Sit on your ass for all these years and squander an opportunity to truly make things better for county residents, and you’re out!
The website is a surprisingly bold move for the union, whose past leadership has been essentially paralyzed to take aggressive political positions.

WTF. Can’t find it. MIA like Anderson’s signs. On another note glad to see SEBA grow a sac and go after that worthless Supervisor
In other words, giving the sheriff’s deputies three percent raises endangers public safety. Those guys deserve ten percent raises at least. Paying them more will make our streets safer, even if that means we can’t hire more of them. Oh, and because we’ve been paying them so little, the recent deputy recruits are subpar quality law enforcement officers, who are a danger to their fellow deputies, the public and themselves. Maybe if we pay them some more money, they’ll turn into decent peace officers. Let’s all vote for Steinorth. He’ll make sure we spend plenty of money on giving these deputies everything they demand!
Hey Clyde, when the Sheriff’ Deputy pay is so low, the department loses recruits to other agencies in the academy. How’s that work for you?
@3 interesting you say that, was talking to a person last night in the academy for SBSD.
They said many are already looking at going to another agency after graduation.
Sad things have reach this point.
Rutherford is a pig dirtbag who cant be trusted. A Deveraux Ramos hack. Defeat this piece of human garbage.
Our deputies deserve a pay raise, there really is no other way around it. However, when will someone start auditing the Sheriff’s Department’s books? The amount of money wasted on HDDC and on making WVDC ADA compliant was their own doing. Why should money from the general fund have to cover more of their messes?
What we need are supervisors that aren’t afraid of the Sheriffs Department that will hold them accountable
@ 6. What about all of the lawsuits paid out since McMahon has been running the show. Amount is staggering! The Pernod years and Hoops term had nothing even close.
@7 you’re absolutely right. But there is so much more, someone needs to go in independently and reorganize the department. I see a lot of people commenting on the deputies and their lack of pay but they are not the only ones. County employees as a whole have been trampled by the current county supervisors. There is so much waste that could be going to better compensate the men and women that work for the department
