A credible source has told me that Assemblyman Marc Steinorth will most likely pull papers today to challenge Supervisor Janice Rutherford. It isn’t a matter of if he will pull, but when.
Political insiders have been buzzing ever since Third District Supervisor James Ramos announced he would seek the 40th Assembly District seat currently held by Steinorth. Immediate speculation suggested Steinorth, severely damaged by his “cap and trade” vote in July, would relinquish the seat and instead battle Rutherford.
From a strictly political calculus, it is a no-brainer for Steinorth. Ramos would have access to unlimited funds and is known to spend whatever it takes to win an election. Additionally, Steinorth recently went through a contentious divorce and would naturally want to be closer to home as he still has one young child in the home. Moreover, the county office pays very well, allows you to sleep in your own bed each night, has a four year term, and frankly has much more impact on the day-to-day lives of voters.

And who should be excited about what?
He’s just an another turd in the punchbowl.
The only accomplishment he did was raise gasoline and vehicle registration fees to his constituents.
No fan of Rutherford but this guy is a clown. Just another clown looking for a political job. Go get a real job for once and quit screwing the taxpayers over. Cap and Trade!! WTF!
As far as being close to his kids, he should of thought of that before he tapped his staff.
Yep, if you read between the lines on this article you can see that the Highway fund will be paying for the high speed train and its cost overruns. Steinorth voted for SB-1 that increased the funding of the highway funds through increased gasoline taxes. This bullet train will only benefit a few, while most of California pays for it thru higher gasoline taxes. I bet Steinorth knows he is finished in state politics and is hoping to land a new government job locally.

So if this guy wins we have him, Hagman and Bob Dutton former State politicians feeding at the local troff?
