Hats off to the New York Daily News.
The New York City daily newspaper laid into Texas U.S. Senator Ted Cruz on Wednesday afternoon.
Cruz, fresh off his 13-point victory over GOP Front-runner Donald Trump, decided to wade into the deep end of the pool, making campaign stops in the Bronx of all places.
The first stop at a local restaurant was a dud. It attracted only 100 or so people, with about 70 or so of the attendee’s being specially invited clergy guests.
The second planned stop, at a high school, was canceled after the students threatened to walk out in protest.
Anyways. It seems Cruz has hit a buzz saw in the Empire State., not to mention Trump’s home state.
Trump grew up in Queens.
It’s clear no one has forgotten Cruz’s “New York Values” comment during a GOP debate. A reference Trump shoved down his throat.
It’s a tactic Trump will likely keep doing in the foreseeable future.
A new Monmouth University poll of New York voters has Trump at 52%, followed by Ohio Governor John Kasich at 25% and Cruz at a distant 17%.
If Trump pulls 50% or better on election night he will take all 95 delegates.
The New York Primary is April 19.
