A third campaign mailer opposing four-term incumbent San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos has hit mailboxes.
This time it’s county jurors that are taking a shot at the ethically-challenged district attorney.
The independent expenditure committee, Business Leaders for Fair and Ethical Government, has sent out a campaign mailer with quotes from jurors who sat on the Colonies trial.
The jurors apparently have a lot to say.
It’s estimated that Ramos blew $50 million of taxpayer money, from start to finish, on the entire case that was built on a house of cards using fabricated evidence and perjured testimony.

What a great quote from juror Donald Platten: “I never thought the D.A.’s office was corrupt until after” the Colonies trial.
That speaks volumes; Mike Ramos supporters like James mills will have to work overtime to spin that statement.
Speaking of quotes, here’s what James mills had to say in a comment on this site on January 25, 2014:
“as I have said and continue to say, the colony defendants will be held accountable for their illegal actions …. They will either plea or be found guilty. Tic tic boom boys.”
Hopefully that “tic tic boom” now refers to the tenure of Mike Ramos.
I so enjoy getting my mail these days.
OJ was acquitted too. I guess he is innocent. The system has it flaws. But Mr. Ramos will handily win. Embrace it. You heard it hear first.
James mills:
I never expected you to admit that you were wrong, but an OJ comparison is a major stretch. By the way, OJ had to put on a defense to be acquitted. Also, I do not recall any of his jurors saying that the prosecution was “pulling a fast one on us” or that the LA County District Attorney’s office was “corrupt.”
I agree that the system has flaws. For example, it allows a corrupt DA to use tax payer money to selectively prosecute adversaries. I don’t see the system changing, so we need to change the DA.
Finally, it’s “here,” not “hear.” I used to criticize Red Anon and Repairman for their misuse of homophones; are you related?
When do we get a mailer from Mikey? Oh wait he doesn’t have any money. Mills is right OJ was acquitted. But he paid thirty some thing million in damages. Wonder if Ramos can beat that?
Seem he lost the colonies case and the million airport case also wow a real winner we have here
The campaign against Ramos is being executed too well for him to overcome period. What’s he going to hit back with, it’s being funded by some people who he wrongfully tried to convict? There is nothing Ramos can do to stay in office, it’s the perfect storm and it’s just the beginning of change in our valley.James maybe the new DA should find out who you are and take away your first amendment rights, and we then could all make fun of you and say how guilty you are for entertainment.
LOL OJ Simpson didn’t have the DA, State AG, the FBI and IRS after him at one point. The case didn’t drag on for 8 years either.
The Colonies Case is the biggest of the long list of political debacles in Ramos’s seedy tenure.
How many INNOCENT cops did Ramos try and prosecute at the behest of Sheriffs Pernod, Hoops, and McMahon starting with Ivory Webb in 2006 and moving forward?
Did we forget about Lieutenants Bill Maddox and Russ Wilkie in the POST scandal? One Lt. was retired the other still working. Neither did ANYTHING wrong.
They were chosen as escape goats with a few others to protect higher ranking people who defrauded the State. They even chose a long time retired Assistant Sheriff to take attention away from the real culprits.
How about the Deputy tried for ATTEMPTING to steal a cigarette lighter and another for NOT reporting another cop having sex with a explorer? Both cases ended in acquittal.
And then the gangbanger acquitted of Assault on a Peace Officer after Mikey threw those charges on him to protect McMahon and former Undersheriff Pepplers kid? That cost us a meeger $6 million.
And some of those Officer involved shootings where Mikey ruled them justified but when civil proceedings started a significant number of lies and evidence was uncovered suggesting otherwise.
The County just lost one for $33.5 million. AGAIN the jury thought the cops lied and evidence fabricated.
I must admit Mike Ramos is a equal opportunity selective prosecutor. Especially when News Cameras are near.
And who can forget Ramos grandstanding on the off duty death of Deputy Larry Falce?
I’d sure like to see a couple mailers outlining all these outrageous incidents.
The Colonies case is the biggest scandal, but it’s not the ONLY one.
Put all the eggs in the basket.
Let’s not forget Ramos prosecuted former Sheriff Floyd Tidwell for possession of all those guns.
Who can forget that circus?
Lots of media hoopla and at the end of the day Tidwell pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor that was eventually dismissed.
The ONLY reason that was prosecuted was because outside agencies were aware of it so something had to be done so outside heat didn’t come down on Pernod and others.
And that entire investigation was a joke behind the scenes.
So much so it frustrated the hell out of the DDA handling the case.
I talked with the lead investigator on that who had a lot to say when all was said and done.
Looking forward to Ramos telling a Federal Jury how bitchen he is.
Boy those aviation guys better hope Ramos gets elected.
