It’s a rocky Spring for San Bernardino County Fourth District Supervisor Curt Hagman.
When campaign finance disclosures were filed on Thursday, Hagman was trailing his challenger, School Board Trustee Gloria Negrete-McLeod, by $10,000.
As of April 21, Negrete-McLeod reported $143,708 cash on hand to Hagman’s $133,154.
Hagman is learning a valuable lesson here. That lesson being never sit on your rear-end think it’s going to be a smooth ride.
This election year Hagman assumed he wouldn’t have a challenger. He was wrong!
Even though the seat is “non-partisan”. It’s well known that Hagman is a republican and Negrete-McLeod is a staunch democrat.
So far Hagman can thank his lucky stars that his opponent hasn’t been raising any recent cash and no group has jumped in with an independent expenditure bashing him. But of course Election day is still 36-days out.
A likely low turnout, especially democrat turnout, will likely assist Hagman, who sits in an ever increasing democrat-advantaged district.
Hopefully a lesson is learned here.
