Sources tell The Insider a federal grand jury has convened to examine evidence and hear testimony related to the ongoing investigation into possible illegal activities involving public officials at San Bernardino County-owned and operated Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. (ARMC)

Last month federal investigators raided the facility and recovered boxes of documents and conducted interviews of department heads.

San Bernardino County appears to be judge shopping in a lawsuit filed against it and District Attorney Mike Ramos by former employee Cheryl Ristow.

Ristow has sued the county and Ramos, claiming she was retaliated against by Ramos for refusing to keep secret and affair between her and the two-term DA, when knowledge of their relationship went public in May 2009.

This Tuesday, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors will consider the adoption of a so-called ‘Sunshine Ordinance’ proposed by Third District Supervisor Neil Derry.

Something The Sun newspaper hailed this week as a major change towards greater transparency in San Bernardino County government.

It seems the newspaper, along with the rest of us, were in fact duped. The current proposal may as well be toilet paper. The word “toothless” comes to mind.

An employee in the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office, who came forward last year revealing she had an 18-month long relationship with District Attorney Mike Ramos after the affair became public, has filed a civil suit against the county and Ramos.

Cheryl Ristow, an investigative technician, resigned from her job this week after more than a year on stress leave. Ristow has previously alleged she was retaliated against after knowledge of her relationship with Ramos was revealed in a local news publication in May 2009.
