The conduct of press conferences related to the manhunt, in the San Bernardino Mountains, in and around Big Bear Lake, for murder suspect Christopher Dorner were out of line.

BIG BEAR LAKE – Here’s what’s new at the zoo.
The latest development in the Moonridge Animal Park’s relocation project is an artist’s nearly complete 3D scale model of the new wolf enclosure.
Third District Supervisor Neil Derry has spearheaded the effort to push the relocation along.

BIG BEAR LAKE – Sheriff’s detectives on Monday continued their search for the remaining Big Bear High School yearbooks containing a photo apparently showing inappropriate behavior by a teenage couple at a dance.
Investigators also were trying to determine if a sexual crime occurred.

BIG BEAR LAKE – The Sheriff’s Department wants all copies of Big Bear High School’s 2011 yearbook returned after finding a photo in it that deputies said can be construed as child pornography.

BIG BEAR LAKE – The firefighters union is concerned some members could lose their job, have it changed or be forced to work in another area if the city goes forward with the idea of outsourcing or merging with another fire agency, a union representative says.
Big Bear Lake Professional Firefighters, a branch of San Bernardino County Professional Firefighters Local 935, say it’s prudent to evaluate all options available to decide how fire service is delivered, but the impact to firefighters should also be considered, said Jeff Schwing, the union’s local representative.

Anti-incumbent sentiments that reverberated across the nation on Election Day weren’t as strong locally, but still present as mayors and city council members in several cities across the region were unseated by challengers.
