Update

Well it didn’t take long for the dust-up over the unauthorized use of Riverside County Sheriff Stan Sniff’s name on San Bernmardino County Sheriff John McMahon’s campaign literature to gain traction.

Apparently Sniff was contacted and grudgingly agreed to support McMahon on Saturday evening.

In a posting on Facebook, which cannot be validated, Sniff does confirm that McMahon never orginally had permission to use his name, and he doesn’t normally get involved in races outside of Riverside County.

Anyways, the post speaks for itself. Here it is:

John – as you are aware, typically I don’t very often become involved in political races outside of Riverside County. You and I have worked side-by-side since your appointment as Sheriff of San Bernardino County, overseeing two of California’s largest counties in the Inland Empire and two outstanding agencies, and so I have had ample opportunity to watch your performance. Although I have not formally endorsed your candidacy previously, in my view, you are doing a stellar job as Sheriff serving the citizens of San Bernardino County, and you publicly have my full support and my formal endorsement in your race. You have done a great job, and I trust that the citizens of San Bernardino County will recognize that and elect you as their Sheriff on Jun 3rd.

Sheriff Stan Sniff, Riverside County
