Rep. Mark Takano officially has a 2016 opponent.

Riverside Republican Doug Shepherd announced Thursday, Oct. 22, he would run against Takano, D-Riverside, for the right to represent the 41st Congressional District, which includes Riverside, Moreno Valley, Perris and Jurupa Valley. He’s already filed papers with the Federal Election Commission.

This is the final update of absentee ballot returns. The data shows voters, Democrats in particular, are disengaged.

Depending on Election Day turnout, Raul Ruiz (D) could be ousted by State Assemblyman Brian Nestande (R) in CD-36. In CD-31, the battle between Pete Aguilar (D) and Paul Chabot (R) is a toss-up. But the numbers currently don’t favor Aguilar. Read the rest of this entry »

Two media outlets popular with conservatives are reporting that Rep. Mark Takano, D-Riverside, said during a recent town hall in Jurupa Valley that the meeting wasn’t a public forum.

The Washington Times and World Net Daily quoted Beth Baumann’s account of what took place. Baumann is described by WND as “a conservative activist in a number of fields.”
