Rutherford

With a November run-off with San Bernardino County Supervisor Paul Biane on the horizon, Fontana Councilwoman Janice Rutherford can’t be the least bit pleased with this mornings FBI/IRS raids believed to be focused on Upland Mayor John “J.P.” Pomierski.

Pomierski is a staunch supporter and ally of Rutherford in her quest to unseat Biane.

Pomierski is also the only Upland politician to support San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos for reelection.

I can definitely see Rutherford throwing Pomierski under the bus.

COLTON – Pricey pension packages, budget breakdowns and deep deficits have reduced or jeopardized the reserves some cities have amassed over recent years.

Both Colton and San Bernardino are struggling with dwindling incomes that have burned cash reserves to dangerously low levels.

Rialto is struggling with higher pension costs set to start July 1, which a top official has said will deplete a sizeable $31 million reserve within three years if employees don’t agree to concessions.

DailyBulletin Editorial: Is assistant necessary now?

Upland

Created: 12/05/2009 07:36:10 PM PST

Rod Foster, Upland’s assistant city manager, was hired last month by Colton to be its city manager. He is stepping into a difficult position in Colton, where the interim city manager recently laid off 60 city employees and closed the city’s libraries. (Colton’s City Council has since decided to reopen the libraries on a reduced schedule.)

One of the employees let go in Colton was Assistant City Manager Mark Nuaimi, who is Fontana’s mayor. Nuaimi recommended elimination of his own position in the face of what the city said then was a $5 million budget deficit, now pegged at nearly $6 million.
