Assembly Democratic leaders Thursday, Jan. 4, appointed Assemblywoman Eloise Reyes, D-Grand Terrace, as assistant majority whip for the 2017-18 session.

“I am honored that (Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, D-Lakewood) chose me to serve on the Assembly leadership team and I vow to continue fighting for, and defending California’s values of inclusion and equity,” Reyes said in a news release.

“In this new role as the only Inland Empire elected official on the Democratic leadership team, I will continue my efforts to highlight the needs and issues of our community.”

Reyes, who defeated incumbent Democratic Assemblywoman Cheryl Brown in 2016, represents Colton, Grand Terrace, Fontana, Rialto and part of San Bernardino.
