Allegations of shady dealings have erupted over an endorsement, plus money, benefiting embattled San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos.

All signs indicate trouble is brewing within the San Bernardino County Public Attorneys Association (SBCPAA), the union representing county prosecutors, public defenders and child support attorneys.

Copies of e-mail communications provided to InlandPolitics.com reveal growing signs of a membership upset at union leadership, with discussions of recalls and a split in the unions membership.

At the core of the dispute is the siphoning of political action committee (PAC) monies to support Ramos, through a second PAC. A second issue has emerged involving the endorsement of County Supervisor Janice Rutherford and the accompanying campaign dough.

Rutherford is loathed by the SBCPAA membership. The endorsement of her by the union also has become sore spot, due to the membership getting hosed in the latest contract negotiations.

It’s becoming clear that a large faction of the union membership is not supportive of Ramos, or Rutherford for that matter. Drawing from personal experience these situations never end well.

This is the second county union dealing with allegations of shady endorsement processes.
