Questions are swirling over the alleged outside business interests of a high-ranking San Bernardino County Sheriff’s official.
To be specific. Alleged interest in a beef jerky manufacturer and an automotive repair vendor.
I know. Beef Jerky? Gimme a break!
The problem at issue. The official, who we’ll leave unnamed at this juncture, never disclosed interest in the businesses, of which, both have contracts with the department.
Those contracts fall under the official’s purview.
A review of the official’s statement of economic interest is clean, meaning there are no disclosures of any type.
Sources say the non-disclosed business interests has led to revelations this official will depart the law enforcement agency in December.
The jerky business is alleged to be Carnivore Candy, which operates a production facility located in Colton.
One could easily see carnivore as a supplier to inmate commissary services in the county jails. But that’s just speculation.
This story has been making the rounds for the past few months. Now it’s time to drag it out.
Interestingly, there is no reported investigation of any type related to this issue.
