The union representing public attorneys employed by San Bernardino County has secured a new collective bargaining agreement through August 2019.

The San Bernardino County Public Attorneys Association (SBCPAA), representing Deputy District Attorneys, Deputy Public Defenders and Child Support Attorneys, will receive cost-of-living adjustments totaling 7.0% through July 2018. The agreement also provided for a longevity pay bump of 2.0% for lawyers with fifteen years of service.

That’s 9.0% percent for the bulk of the unions membership.

This latest deal also includes additional benefit increases.

While other county unions have unsuccessfully went to battle with the county and Chief Executive Officer Greg Devereaux, SBCPAA has stayed out of the fray.

Some should take this development as a lesson learned.

The total one-time and ongoing costs associated with the agreement is $9.7 million.
