Embattled San Bernardino County Human Resources Director Andrew Lamberto has resigned.

Lamberto, who was arrested and convicted in a March 2015 prostitution sting, has been under fire since the incident was made public in late October.

Adding to the mess was the fact that county supervisors purportedly were not told of the arrest, until it was disclosed on a local blog.

Lamberto will remain on paid administrative leave until May 27, 2016.

It was viewed that the county had to extend a severance package to Lamberto, given the execution of what is known as a “Last Chance” performance agreement, after his arrest.

County Supervisors held a special closed session meeting Thursday to negotiate Lamberto’s departure.
