SAN BERNARDINO >> The release of 200 butterflies at the newly completed San Bernardino Transit Center on Monday symbolized the same thing officials stressed repeatedly at the completion ceremony: transformation.
The transportation hub on Rialto Avenue between E and F Streets, which opens to the public Sept. 8, is intended to connect people to downtown San Bernardino and facilitate easy travel across the region.
“There are few things more precious than opportunity and time,” said Ryan McEachron, president of the county transportation agency SanBAG. “And today, we are giving both to the people of San Bernardino.”
McEachron, who is also on the Victorville City Council, admitted he was borrowing a line the Federal Transit Administration’s Leslie T. Rogers used at the opening ceremony for the sbX bus line from San Bernardino to Loma Linda — but in a way, that was part of the point.
