The giant private equity fund Apollo Global Management is the front-runner in negotiations to buy Digital First Media, publisher of this newspaper, according to reports.

Apollo, which has about $160 billion under management, is “in advanced talks” to acquire DFM for around $400 million, Reuters said, citing sources.

Digital First Media owns the Los Angeles News Group, which includes the Los Angeles Daily News, Daily Breeze, Long Beach Press-Telegram, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Pasadena Star-News, Whittier Daily News, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, San Bernardino Sun and Redlands Daily Facts.
