Gov. Jerry Brown has reappointed Jodi Remke chairwoman of the California Fair Political Practices Commission, his office said Tuesday.

The appointment comes after Brown last year picked Remke to finish the term of Ann Ravel, who left the panel for the Federal Election Commission in late 2013.

The FPPC, which oversees campaign finance and ethics rules in California, rose in prominence under Ravel, including prosecutions of money laundering and conflict-of-interest cases.

Remke has adopted a lower-profile approach, focusing on improving technology and streamlining reporting requirements for public officials. Tuesday’s appointment is to a four-year term.

Like Brown, Remke, of Oakland, is a Democrat. The position does not require Senate confirmation. It pays $138,867 a year.
