REDLANDS >> Former county Supervisor Neil Derry has been endorsed by the California Correctional Peace Officers Association for the City Council.
Derry, vice president of public affairs at Desmond & Louis, a public relations firm in Yucaipa, is running along with five other candidates for three seats in the Nov.
“It is with great pleasure that Correctional Peace Officers announce our endorsement of Neil Derry’s candidacy for Redlands City Council,” said the peace officers’ local PAC chair, Kurt Stoetzl, in a news release. “We believe that he is the right choice to lead our community.”
Derry said he is honored to receive the support of correctional peace officers who he said work one of the toughest law enforcement beats in the state.
“Correctional Officers know that I am committed to making residents’ safety the top priority for our city government,” said Derry, who in September called on the council to pass an ordinance banning outdoor marijuana cultivation.
“This endorsement demonstrates the growing momentum behind my candidacy,” he said in a news release. “The voters of Redlands are fed up with the dirty politics coming from phony committees that are being bankrolled by Rancho Cucamonga developer Reggie Young and San Manuel gambling interests.”
