The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) has commenced the process to decertify the San Bernardino Public Employees Association (SBPEA), as the designated union to represent several San Bernardino County employee bargaining units.

The move comes on the heels of a major contract rejection by SBPEA rank and file members.

A second sub-par contract offer is being presented to the SPBEA membership. One that once again fails to provide any across-the-board cost of living increase.

On Monday, county employees, represented by SBPEA, started receiving signature cards in their mailboxes. The signature cards, if signed, indicates an employee wishes to authorize a decerification vote.

Should SEIU obtain a number of signed cards, sufficient to trigger an election, SBPEA will likely loose several bargaining units. A development that would give SEIU a major foothold in the county.
