The Sun newspaper publiched a story Thursday morning regarding inmate abuse at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s, West Valley Detention Center, in Rancho Cucamonga.

The lawsuit is seeking $15 million in both compensatory, and punitive damages, per plaintiff, per each of five claims (causes of action).

The claims are as follows:

  • Deprivation of Civil Rights (U.S.C. 1983)
  • Deprivation of Civil Rights (U.S.C. 1983)
  • Depriviation of Rights Guaranteed by the Fourth Amendment (42 U.S.C. 1983)
  • Conspiracy to Deprive Claimants of their Civil Rights (42 U.S.C. 1985)
  • Failure to Prevent Violation of Civil Rights (42 U.S.C. 1986)

There is six plaintiffs in the current action. More lawsuits are expected.
