Joe Baca

Campaigns activity is picking up in the hotly-contested 31st Congressional District.

With a congested field of four democrats and two republicans, the election is wide open for both parties.

With no real contest in the statewide offices, and no propositions on the ballot, low voter turnout will be a factor.

Former Congressman, turned educator, Joe Baca (D-Rialto) was in the field, with a poll this weekend. Baca will play a part in this race, and he knows it. A field of four, and his name identification with voters, gives him an outside chance.

The only candidate really not in the game, is School Board Trustee Danny Tillman (D-San Bernardino).

Democrats have to be concerned that turnout could skew results to allow the two republicans in the open primary to squeak-in. But there’s less of a chance of that happening like it did two years ago.
