( – The Treasury Department’s Financial Management Service (FMS), which publishes both the federal government’s official Daily Treasury Statement and its official Monthly Treasury Statement, is reporting that in July the federal government ran a deficit of $98 billion but that the federal government’s debt remained exactly $16,699,396,000,000 for the entire month.

Marcelo Co resigned as a Moreno Valley councilman Tuesday, Aug. 13, the morning after he was arrested and charged with “pocketing” nearly $15,000 in government aid to care for his ailing mother who was in the Philippines and Taiwan.

The Upland City Council adopted the 2013-14 fiscal year budget Monday, which had been postponed numerous times to allow city staff more time to meet budget goals.

San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant

Southern California Edison said it won’t come up with a specific San Onofre decommissioning timeline until the middle of next year. By law, it can take up to 60 years.

SACRAMENTO — Southern California Edison Co., by law, can spend up to 60 years to completely scrap its San Onofre nuclear plant near San Clemente, but less than 10 years is more realistic, lawmakers were told.
