It’s Sequestration Day!
The Sun rose in the east this Friday morning and no one heard the federal budget axe fall.
Teachers, Firefighters and Police Officers all around the country showed up to work. Scheduled commercial airlines were operating on-time.
The White House predictions of doom and gloom seem to have, for once, worked against them. The big question is whether or not people will believe the President anymore.
Of the $85 billion in so-called sequester cuts, taking affect today, only half will be felt between now and September 30, of this year. The remainder will be phased-in over several years.
If there was this much belly-aching over cutting a paltry sum from a bloated $3.6 trillion annual federal budget, then how on Earth will any meaningful cuts in out-of-control government spending ever be accomplished.
