The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has pegged the cost of the manhunt for Former Los Angeles Police Department Officer Christopher Dorner at $550,000. The amount consists primarily of salary and overtime-related costs.

First-Time claims for unemployment benefits drops to 344,000

The U.S. Department of Labor reported on Thursday morning that the number of people filing for initial unemployment benefits fell 20,00o to a seasonally-adjusted 344,000 last week.

The four-week moving average of claims feel to 355,000.

Fourth Quarter GDP adjusted up slightly

The Gross Domestic Product for the 4th quarter of 2012 grew at an anemic 0.1%.

The Commerce Department revised the number upward from the original reading of -0.1%.

J.C. Penney reported a mega-loss of more than a half-billion dollars Thursday morning.
