Newly filed campaign-finance reports show that wealthy Republican activist Charles Munger Jr. contributed $100,000 to the California Senior Advocates League independent-expenditure committee.
The committee’s recent sources of money have been a mystery in the days since it began spending the first of what now totals $115,500 in the Democratic primary fight in Riverside County’s 31st Senate District, part of some $577,000 it had spent statewide as of lunchtime Thursday.
CSAL has raised more than $631,000 since January. Besides Munger, its donors are Quality Health Care for Californians, a campaign committee sponsored by the California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems ($25,000); and the California NOW independent-expenditure committee ($507,000.)
