San Bernardino County has agreed to pay $3 million to settle a lawsuit by a woman injured in a motorcycle accident who claimed that a county road was dangerous and poorly maintained.

Lisa Marie Hermann sued the county over a September 2007 crash on Kelso-Cima Road, located in the Mojave Desert close to the Nevada border, that she said left her with numerous disabling and permanent injuries to her head and neck, according to court documents.

Hermann was a passenger on a motorcycle ridden by Vanjaymes Tonies when they crashed in the single-vehicle accident. They blamed it on the condition of the roadway, which they said included a deep chasm and was uneven and partially collapsed, according to the complaint.
