Retired Colton police chief Bob Miller has been hired as a law enforcement and public integrity specialist for the Riverside-based law firm Best Best & Krieger.
Miller, 51, retired in April after serving on the Colton Police force for 25 years. He had also served in 2006 as chief of Cal State San Bernardino’s campus police force.
“When I retired, I had planned on enjoying that and playing some golf and enjoying my grandson,” Miller said by phone Wednesday. “But things happen.”
He said he was recruited by Dean Derleth, a partner in the law firm who serves as Colton’s city attorney. Derleth approached him after Miller retired, the former police chief said.
In his new job, Miller said he will be assisting attorneys representing 30 cities across the state. Although Colton is one of those cities, he said he has not yet been assigned to cases there.
