The negative news coming out of San Bernardino International Airport (SBIA) continues to worsen this weekend.

The airport, which recently fell under federal scrutiny, is apparently generating little or no income from what tenants still remain at the facility.

Scot Spencer, the airport construction and project manager, has once again fallen behind on his rent payments to the airport authority.

In addition Spencer, who operates and controls much of the airport through several entities, still owes more than a half million dollars in unsecured property taxes to San Bernardino County.

Now news is coming to light that Kelly Aerospace is now past due in its rent payments and has been quietly cutting back staff hours.

It also appears that the remaining tenants who sublet through Spencer have very little, if any, business activity.

Maybe it’s time San Bernardino County moves to place the entire operation under the control of county airports and converts SBIA to a general aviation plan.
