It seems San Bernardino County’s former chief counsel, who county supervisors forced to leave last year, still hasn’t quite departed from government service.
Sources report that former county counsel Ruth Stringer still resides quietly on active payroll.
Even though she retired in December 2010.
Stringer is said to be burning approximately 2,000 or more hours of banked leave time. In the process she reportedly will accrue an additional 212 hours of leave to be cashed out or burned.
It’s another five weeks of compensation, but who’s counting.
Not to mention a total compensation package of roughly $350,000 for the year of burning the banked time.
Also, Stringer will also increase her pension formula by an additional 2.6% of her earnable compensation forever, which is equal to an increase of roughly $7,000 per year to her pension.
No wonder the legislature is out to stop abuses such as this one.
