Riverside council candidates in Wards 1 and 7 talked pensions Wednesday with members of the Service Employees International Union Local 721, which represents about 900 city workers.

An SEIU spokeswoman said invitations were extended to all candidates, though Ward 7 Councilman Steve Adams said Thursday that he never received one.

Candidates were asked about whether city management salaries are too high — Ward 1 candidate Dom Betro has proposed a 10 percent cut for management and the council — and where they stood on council members driving take-home city cars.
