UPLAND – Mayor John “JP” Pomierski’s construction company, JP Construction Co., has received at least $90,000 in income from J.H. Builders in Upland.

J.H. Builders, owned by John Hennes, was raided by FBI and IRS agents in June along with Pomierski’s home, where his business is based.

Upland City Hall and Venture West Capital in Rancho Cucamonga were raided the same day.

Pomierski’s economic interest forms from 2001 to 2009 list J.H. Builders as a source of at least $10,000 in income each year. The economic interest form known as a Form 700 requires an officeholder to report each source of income of $10,000 or more, but does not require an exact figure.

The two construction companies have worked together on several projects over the years, said Robert Schauer, Pomierski’s attorney.

“He did work for a lot of different people, one would have been J.H. Builders,” Schauer said.

Hennes said his company has been collaborating with JP Construction on projects for close to 30 years.

Hennes and Pomierski have known each other since high school and have been in the construction business since the early 1980s, he said.

“We’ve gone back and forth. He’ll work for me, we’ll work for him,” he said. “It depends on who’s the busiest.”

Hennes said he did not know why the FBI raided his office, only that they were looking for JP Construction Co. documents.

Hennes said he has not heard anything from the FBI regarding his involvement in the investigation since the raid.

“They have not contacted me,” he said. “I opened my office to them. We’re pretty clean. We’re only contractors. I’m not involved in the political arena.”

Pomierski did not return calls for comment. The mayor has referred questions to Schauer while he is under investigation.
