The county Board of Supervisors today will vote on a proposal to award a $90 million construction contract to a Washington-based contractor for the expansion of the Adelanto Detention Center.

Two California contractors – S.J. Amorosa Construction Co. in Costa Mesa and Flintco in Folsom – were precluded from bidding after failing to properly include information in their bidding documents mandated by the Public Contract Code, according to a report prepared for the Board of Supervisors.

Representatives of those two companies couldn’t be reached for comment on Monday.

The board will also vote on a recommendation to increase the project budget from $9.6 million to $120 million, which would fully fund the project.

Of the $120 million, $82.3 million will be funded by the state, and the county’s share will be $37.6 million, of which the $9.6 million had previously been set aside by the board. The remaining $28 million will be funded by the county’s future space needs reserve and ongoing contingency set-aside funds.
