Information on last weeks FBI raid at San Bernardino County-owned and operated Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) continues to trickle out.
Last weekend, The Insider learned that records related to the wife of a former chief of staff to a county supervisor were being sought.
Now The Insider has learned the county’s former administrative officer, Mark Uffer, is also in the mix among several others.
Uffer, who by all accounts, was a primary facilitator of ‘free’ health care for V.I.P.’s at the publicly-funded hospital. He was the administrator of ARMC immediately prior to becoming the county’s top executive.
Uffer, through attorney Sanford Kassel, has denied having any knowledge of the practice.
Since last Thursdays raid, county officials have tried to minimize the significance of the investigation, citing a discontinued policy of waiving employee co-pays.
However, sources tell The Insider the conduct in focus is related to services the facility provided to high-ranking county officials, for which the facility received no reimbursement.
ARMC receives most of its funding from medi-cal and medicare programs, which are funded by state and federal funds.
Additionally, it also appears the county counsel’s office may have provided false information to the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), the state’s political watchdog, related to a complaint it received revealing the practice.
