The jury in the trial of former Assessor employee and Rancho Cucamonga city councilman Rex Gutierrez ended deliberations just after 11:00 a.m. this morning without reaching a verdict.

A jurors medical appointment ended the session early.

Gutierrez is charged with three felony counts related to alleged time card fraud while employed by former Assessor Bill Postmus.

The lack of a quick verdict, as a rule of thumb, usually doesn’t bode well for the prosecution.

So far, no information requests have been made by the jury.

Day three of deliberations will resume on Monday morning.
