The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians have finally moved to clean up an eye soar near the San Bernardino International Airport.
Several years ago the gaming tribe assumed ownership of land formally attached to the former Norton Air Force Base. Two main areas acquired were the air combat camera facility and the former base housing property.
The largest parcel, the former base housing area located within the City of Highland, which has north and south borders between 5th and 3rd Streets, and east and west borders of Victoria and Sterling Avenues, has been covered with debris from the demolition of residential structures.
Now the removal of the waste material appears to be underway. A major improvement to an area negelected by the Inland Valley Development Agency.
The clean up is a long time in arriving, but a welcome action.
