The questionable handling of child molestation cases within the Redlands Unified School District by San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos has emerged in the campaign to unseat the four-term incumbent.

The political action committee (PAC), Business Leaders for fair and Ethical Government, has taken issue with multiple recently-filed civil lawsuits alleging child abuse and molestation of students by district employees, and how there are serious questions regarding Ramos’ refusal to charge suspects or hold the district accountable to the state’s mandatory reporter laws.

Ramos, who is also a former district school board trustee and whose wife is employed in the Office of the Superintendent, has, by his actions or lack thereof, transmitted extreme reluctance to prosecute cases referred by the Redlands Police Department.

The general belief is that it’s an attempt to shield the district from negative media attention and civil actions.
