The California State Legislature convened today with state senators and Assembly members taking the oath of office.
Those being sworn in for the first time include two members of the Inland Assembly delegation – Democrats Sabrina Cervantes of Eastvale and Eloise Reyes of Grand Terrace. Reyes posted a photo of herself and husband Frank with Gov. Jerry Brown on her Facebook page.
Cervantes and Reyes unseated incumbents to gain their seats. Cervantes defeated Corona Republican Eric Linder while Reyes unseated fellow Democrat Cheryl Brown of San Bernardino.
Cervantes’ district includes part of the city of Riverside along with Eastvale, Corona, Norco and Jurupa Valley. Reyes will represent a district that includes about a third of San Bernardino city to go with Grand Terrace, Colton, Fontana and Rialto.
