Joseph Turner

In a previous blog entry we discussed how San Bernardino County CEO Greg Devereaux earned close to $600,000 a year in total compensation.
He is the highest paid government employee in all of San Bernardino County. And his total compensation is about fifty percent greater than Riverside County’s chief executive.
Here is Mr. Devereaux bragging on recorded video about how he cannot be fired from his job.
And he was right. He couldn’t be fired.
Even after CEO Devereaux covered up the arrest of the human resources director Andrew Lamberto on prostitution charges, he wasn’t fired. Even after it was learned that the CEO gave this employee a slap on the wrist as punishment, he wasn’t fired. And even after Supervisor Robert Lovingood and the rest of the Board of Supervisors voted to give the disgraced director six months of paid administrative leave at a cost of about $337.000, he wasnt fired.
Maybe it isn’t fair to accuse the CEO of bragging. Is it really bragging when you are merely telling the truth?
My my idiot Denny junior and someone calling Holtz … Turner. Mills go back and take care of your boyfriend Denny.
I have always thought that one of the strangest accusations that ever gets leveled at me is that I am somebody else or posting anonymously. Very bizarre.
Deveraux should never been hired. This piece of corrupt human garbage has seriously damaged the county. The sooner this scumbag leaves earth, the better.
Devereux is hated by the core Republicans, Independents, Unions, Democrats and moderates in between parties. The guy has to be doing something seriously right or seriously wrong to be pissing every large political group off and still keep his job. The only supervisor people are happy with is Josie Gonzales, her constituents love her. Valles is a change from Lovingood, but that is it. I think she is too combative to do the first district well. She is going to create discord wherever she goes instead of coming up with a plan of action. The best politicians for their constituents are the ones that listen to their people, and also have a planned objective in their candidacy. She and the other supervisor’s goals are vague at best, which tells me nothing is going to change. I don’t understand your support for her when jurisdiction dictates that the federal government is in charge the Syrian issue also, so let’s agree to disagree on that.
Union Man –
I have never and will never accept the premise that such and such issue is in the federal domain and thus local electeds have no power or obligation to do anything on the subject. We live in a Democratic Republic and it is incumbent upon the people and light a fire under the asses of those who represent them. They in turn light fires under the asses of those above them.
That is why I have always advocated a bottom up approach to activism as opposed to top down approaches.
Moreover, it is always a one way street. You say that the federal government is in charge of such and such. I can give you countless instances where the feds and state piss on cites and counties with unfunded mandates and dictates. They are the absolute first to pawn off their jobs to the locals…but when the locals push back they want to get all high and mighty about how it is none of their concern and they don’t have the jurisdiction.
This is an old video, and I don’t see how any objective analysis of it can result in a conclusion that Mr. Devereaux is “bragging.”
And I don’t believe that he is saying that he “can’t” be fired, only that in order for the County to do so a number of people all have to be in agreement.
Anonymous #6 is in fine form, using eloquent terms like “scumbag” and “corrupt piece of human garbage” to describe Mr. Devereaux, and providing no examples of how he has “severely damaged the county.”
OOF:
At the 2:40 mark of the video, Devereaux says that the board couldn’t fire him. He says it in his own words.
Joseph, dont let OOF try to distract and obfuscate. That is what he does best. He has no real interest othervthan to protect the corrrupt. In order to do that he coyly plays the role of skeptic. Dont fall for his tricks.
Joseph Turner:
Your right, that’s what he said.
But my feeling is that when he says “they,” he is referring to the 2 Board of Supervisor members who wanted to fire him, and they couldn’t do so without 2 of the other 3 agreeing because of the terms of his contract.
The guy at the end of the video is certainly a vocal critic; perhaps that’s Anonymous #6 in person.
TURNER: “Devereaux says that the board couldn’t fire him.”
As iron is eaten away by rust, so the ENVIOUS are consumed by their own passion (SLOBBERING).

Anonymous #8:
I believe that this is the first critical comment I’ve received using the word “obfuscate.” It’s intelligently composed and a welcome change.
I respectively disagree; my goal is to objectively apply law to fact and ignore attempts by others to “obfuscate.”
Can you provide an example of how I “distract and obfuscate” in order to “protect the corrupt?”
Devereux makes about $50,000 a month. That is decadent. He’s worth about $100,000 a year and no more. Better yet, terminate this arrogant bureaucrat.
I have to laugh at those who say what has the CEO done wrong? Give me the facts.
What has he done that’s good? Give me the facts.
He’s done plenty wrong by remaining silent on many issues that have come forth.
LMAO he has been the quietest of all and makes the MOST money.
He brags OR suggests he can’t be fired THEN he should be kicking some serious BUTT in getting things straightened out.
The guy is in his mid 60’s already drawing a $192k pension from PERS and some are confused about this guy?
Come on Mr. Devereaux do a James Comey and switch gears.
YOU Mr. Observer of Facts there won’t always be a video or tape recorded confession to everything so one has to connect the dots on the obvious.
Devereaux’s silence on the Lamberto scandal should have been a RED FLAG to you.
I am betting money Devereaux was the main driving force in getting that box of documents in the Colonies case released so HE and his CRONIES could avoid public scrutiny.
So OOF if you don’t know what great things the CEO has done, don’t ask others to explain what he has done wrong.
Common sense and having a DEGREE in anything doesn’t make you BRIGHT!
Kenneth Holtz:
Got it; since I haven’t explained what somebody has done right, his critics should not have to explain what he has done wrong.
This reminds me of the rational once offered by Red Anon, who responded to my request that he explain what James Ramos has done to live up to his campaign promos to create jobs by stating that there might be new jobs coming to Barstow, and for me to prove that he didn’t have something to do with it.
My position is far simpler: if somebody is gong to criticize somebody else, when asked about it they should provide examples to back up their criticism.
And I have stated on the record that I thought Mr. Devereaux’s response to the Lamberto situation was improper and a poor example of leadership. However, I do not feel that it warrants him being referred to as a “piece of corrupt human garbage.”
OoF just remember who Red is and who finally blew him off the other blog by engaging him. Enough said.
