  • Conservative author tells California Republicans she hasn’t seen “one minute” of Republican National Convention
  • Coulter selling a book, speaking to California delegates far from Cleveland
  • U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton expected to address delegates on Thursday

Sandusky, Ohio —

What kind of crowd-seeker will make the 60-mile slog from the Republican National Convention in Cleveland to address the California Republican Party at its daily breakfasts here?

One rising star, perhaps. Tom Cotton, the U.S. senator from Arkansas, is scheduled to speak on Thursday, a more appealing time slot now that a norovirus outbreak that afflicted 12 party staffers at the hotel appears contained.

But on Wednesday the California Republicans got ex-“Apprentice” contestant Omarosa Manigault, director of African-American outreach for Donald Trump’s campaign, and Ann Coulter, who is selling a book.

Coulter, the conservative author, said she was glad to address the California party “because I thought I knew every Republican in California personally already, but there may be a few of you I don’t know yet.”

As a heavily Democratic state, Coulter said, California can serve to “warn the country what will happen if we don’t elect Trump.”

Then, less than two minutes into her address, Coulter got to the meat: “I have a book coming out next month,” she said, “In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!”

A reporter asked about the tone of the convention so far.

“To be perfectly honest, I have not seen one minute of the convention,” she said. “I will be watching Donald Trump Thursday night. I think that speech is going to be boffo.”
