Former United States District Judge Stephen G. Larson has been appointed to represent the victims of the December 2, 2015 terror attacks in San Bernardino.

The move will raise the victim’s interest in unlocking the iPhone encryption of one of the suspects in the brutal killings.

The development now pits the victims and the U.S. Government against Apple Inc.

Apple has steadfastly refused to cooperate, stating that creating a workaround program would compromise the security features of their flagship smartphone.

Larson, of the law firm of Larsen O’Brien LLP, with a background in intellectual property law, will file an amicus brief with the federal court in early March.

He and his firm are providing services to the victims for free.
