Ted Cruz

Texas U.S. Senator Ted Cruz

The battle for South Carolina is heating up between GOP Front-runner Donald Trump and Texas U.S. Senator Ted Cruz.

But there is a big question at hand.

Will a 2015 blunder come back to haunt first-term senator Cruz?

Back in December 2015, Cruz, already fully engaged in making his “I’m a political outsider” bones, stepped in it big time.

The incoming GOP majority was about to assume power and the Harry Reid democrat-controlled Senate was ending its session.

Cruz, obviously intending to benefit himself, wanted to make a statement as a maverick by holding up the massive government “Cromnibus” spending bill.

But instead, what Cruz accomplished was to open the door to the end-of-session confirmation of several President Barack Obama appointees, including federal judges, by keeping the chamber in session longer than scheduled.

It was a mistake that led Cruz to apologize to his republican colleagues.

Here’s a link to a Yahoo News story on the subject: “Ted Cruz just did a huge favor for Democrats”

It’s interesting that Mr. Trump hasn’t raised the issue against Cruz under a ‘He’s inexperienced” theme.
