San Bernardino County First District Supervisor Robert Lovingood’s hiring of Fred Aguiar as his policy advisor is an intelligent move by the first-term politician.

Whether the move saves Lovingood from being ousted by district voters remains to be seen. But it’s a step in the right direction.

Lovingood already has a growing list of declared challengers.

But Aguiar brings a long resume of experience to the table. Experience that dwarfs Lovingood’s, and actually every other county supervisor or staffer.

He has previously served as fourth district supervisor, state assemblyman and cabinet secretary under former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Aguiar also has a background in real estate.

In my dealings with Aguiar, I always found him open-minded. He’s hard-nosed and can’t be pushed around by staff.

His move back into San Bernardino County politics is interesting to say the least.

Aguiar, previously lived in Chino, prior to relocating to the state’s wine country.

You have to admit. San Bernardino County is definitely a far cry from Paso Robles.
