Washington (CNN) — Donald Trump seems set to end 2015 as the dominant force in the race for next year’s Republican nomination for president, with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz now a clear — yet distant — second after a strong debate performance, a new CNN/ORC poll released on Wednesday has found.

Two more lawsuits totaling 21 plaintiffs alleging systematic abuse at the hands of San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga have been filed in federal court in Riverside.

An appeals court once again ruled against the San Bernardino City Professional Firefighters and in favor of the city Tuesday, affirming U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Meredith Jury’s conclusion that nothing in the city charter or state law prevents the city from outsourcing its Fire Department.
