ONTARIO >> A deal that in concept would transfer LA/Ontario International Airport to a local authority was presented to the City Council and was reviewed behind closed doors Tuesday night.
The deal still needs go before the Los Angeles city council, Los Angeles World Airport’s Board of Airport Commissioners and the Ontario International Airport Authority before the full terms of the tentative agreement are publicly disclosed.
“This is a historic moment for the city of Ontario,” said City Attorney John Brown.
In addition to reviewing the proposal, Ontario City Council approved all the necessary legal steps to implement the previously approved settlement terms sheet, Brown announced Tuesday night.
The council met for more than 40 minutes in closed session to discuss the pending litigation against Los Angeles. The approval by the city will ultimately result in the dismissal of Ontario’s lawsuit against L.A., Brown said.
