San Bernardino County racked up 49 awards from the National Association of Counties and the California State Association of Counties, and will be honoring each of the 21 departments that received awards at future Board of Supervisors meetings.

The National Association of Counties (NACo) bestowed 46 awards upon the 21 departments, and the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) honored three of those departments – the Sheriff’s Department, Information Services, and Inland Counties Emergency Medical Agency — with awards.

NACo announced its award winners on June 5, and CSAC announced its winners on Sept. 8.

“The 46 awards that we won from NACo were the most won by any of the nation’s more than 3,000 counties, so we did very well this year,” county spokesman David Wert said during Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, where winning county departments falling under the health and human services umbrella were honored.
