The attorney for an Apple Valley man whose beating by San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies was captured on video by a news crew said Thursday he plans to file a civil rights lawsuit in federal court early next week.

On Del Oro Road, not far from the strip malls that line Apple Valley’s bustling Bear Valley Road, Jolene Bindner is trying to make sense of the national attention she and her boyfriend have received.

The boyfriend, Francis Pusok, is the theft suspect who 10 San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies were videotaped hitting and kicking after a pursuit April 9 that began with Pusok fleeing in a car and ended with Pusok falling off a stolen horse.
