As expected, the U.S. Department of Justice has entered into Thursday’s tape recorded use of force incident caught on tape by Los Angeles-based KNBC-TV 4, involving San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies, who appear to use excessive force in the apprehension of a suspect after a long pursuit involving an automobile and horseback.
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched a civil rights investigation.

Is it possible that the FEDS don’t trust Mikey and John? That makes 3 federal investigations NOW in progress. Still have the IRNET drug investigation going on in Ohio.
I see MCMAHON continues to throw out the suspects past history like it has a meaning, OK!!!
There is just one MASSIVE elephant in the room that has EQUAL concern every time MCMAHON says it.
SBSD has a HISTORY of excessive force, perjury, fabrication of evidence, negligent investigative practices.
Unfortunately most of the news reporters don’t know that. Those FACTS are contained in the court files of RECENT cases, JUST under McMahons watch.
Employees and citizens have been victims.
Dig deeper and it gets uglier.
The chickens have come home to roost Sheriff McMahon. Someone is going to nail your hide to the fence post. If not the FBI then maybe the ACLU.
But it will cost the taxpayers and employees of this county BIG BUCKS trying to save you.
He– the subject of the arrest– shot a puppy in front of part of his family and deputies…
Ken, it’s a shame we must pay for McMahon’s ignorance.

@35,
I have no clue of the number of accusations posters of this site have written about McMahon; however, I have yet to read of any proof that links him to any criminality, nor I have read of any proof that he is the target of any investigation.

Holtz,
I have read an article in which your were portrayed as a retired deputy sheriff. Your Linked In account reveals you to be a deputy sheriff at iepoliticsxxx. Do you hold a retired peace office credential?
The thugs cAn kiss their jobs and pensions goodbye! Next stop, Lompoc!
Street signs, you must be the “ends justify the means” kinda person
@2 once upon a time there was a deputy who shot the family dog in front of his wife and kids during a domestic conflict. Killed the dog.
He was fired for that and something else. It wasn’t to long and he was rehired as a civilian worker in the jails. Eventually he got his badge back. Took several years but it happened.
The issue you talk about and the one I mention are both outrageous.
As the great Bill Hadden said once, ” this department (SBSD) has no standards or double standards”. Bill’s problem he never proved that it was just patronizing rhetoric to his clients.
Whatever the Sheriff throws out to the public about folks like Pusok, there is a story of similar nature within SBSD at least in most cases.
Pusok is a POS. If he had punched one of those cops then it would have been game on. That didn’t happen. Pusok is a dummy for running.
The deputies are dummer yet for not paying attention to ISSUES around the country involving uses of force.
I am hearing that the Sheriffs helicopter over the radio alerted the deputies on the ground that NBC news copter was overhead. IF true then all I can say is “you can’t fix stupid”.
Rodney King was a POS and his past was no defense for LAPD.
Now #2 PLEASE explain those prosecuted and jacked up by SBSD who turned out to be factually innocent of charges leveled against them under McMahons watch within the last 3 years? And those folks background PRIOR to being drug through the mud was CLEAN.
I hope the FBI kicks some ass all the way to federal prison.
My uncle was a Captain for LAPD. He helped point out to me how out of any department policy some behavior of the SBCSD was in a situation I was involved in. At the time of the trial of the Rodney King defendants, he testified for the defense. He was a very ethical man and had some sort of expert designation so I remember watching him and being shocked he would testify for them. He was there to testify that their behavior was common in the department, and because of that it was a de facto department policy(this is going back a long way but that was the gist) This current situation reminds me of that situation. It’s hard to believe twenty plus years and in the age of video cameras everywhere that this still goes on. I used to say always assume there is someone somewhere with their cell phone filming you.(as there was in Ivory Webb’s situation) McMahon can stand up there all he wants and act like this is not his department policy and feed a load of bull to the public, but he knows this goes on and has done nothing to stop it. Those men would not have behaved that way unless they knew it was acceptable to their supervisors. Granted, they should have known better regardless of whether other people do it(my opinion twenty years ago) and they all should have imagined they would get hung out to dry by their department if caught and had the self preservation not to do it. But, the fact is McMahon is lying again and maybe this time he will suffer some consequences.
