Spending on lobbying rose in the third quarter of 2014, the final months of legislative session when companies and interest groups across California hustle to get bills approved or shot down.

Spending increased in the third quarter by $1.4 million for a total of $13,282,705, according to numbers filed late last week with the California Secretary of State.

The top lobbying firm by revenue was CSP Securities LP, which earned $2,446,921. Little is available online about the Dallas-based firm — CSP did not list any bills or agencies that it lobbied over the quarter. The firm represented half a dozen clients including investment firms Centre Lane Partners and Rubicon Technology Management.
